Hang up our flyer (or your own) in your community and post it on social media! You can also send out an email or text blast telling the world what you’re doing as a Game Changers NY volunteer. Tell your friends and family to follow us on social media so everyone can see the amazing work that you’re doing.
Set up bins in your local community center, schools, houses of worship, sports centers, etc., so people can drop off their new and lightly used sports equipment. Then you can visit these locations occasionally, or at the end of your drive, collect the items that have been donated.
Step 04 : Collect, Sort, Count
Gather all of the sports equipment that you have collected. Recycle the equipment that is in poor condition, and sort and count the equipment that’s in good condition. Please make a specific list of items that you have collected. This will be useful for Step 5 and also for your personal records.
Step 5. Sports Equipment Recipient
Please visit the Sports Equipment Requests page on our website to view which of our partner organizations are in close proximity to you and need the items which you have collected. Pledge your donation and reach out to them to schedule a pick-up or drop-off, whichever is best for both parties.
Step 6. Kids Receive Equipment
Congratulations! Now, underrepresented children around the world can play sports because of your hard work! You have done a fantastic job volunteering for GCNY and we hope you volunteer again in the future!
